Help Your Child in Braces Cleaning
Many people are getting inflicted with dental problems these days in US. This problem is more common in children due to their bad eating habits as they eat all sorts of junk foods like chocolates, toffees & burgers which spoil their teeth. This is quite probable that you used braces and now your child too had the same problem and has to use braces. Using braces has now become so common that your child doesn’t need to be shy if he also has the same problem. Problems in Braces Cleaning
With normal teeth it was very simple to clean them by just using a simple toothbrush but with braces it gets quite problematic. There are many recognized problems in braces cleaning. They cause problems in the normal eating as well. Lot of things has to be done in the process of braces cleaning. One of the big problems that arise due to braces is that no matter whatever you eat, something will get trapped in the metallic wires. This can also make your child ashamed in front of others if the food is stuck inside just because you did not tell your child how to do braces cleaning. If braces cleaning is not done and the food remains stuck inside it can cause plaque formation. This is a very serious problem as if not properly taken care of it can get so worse that in the end the germs in hat plaque will make cavities. Moreover this won’t stop here it can further lead to gums disease. Without braces cleaning diseases like gums swelling and infection can also take place. In order to save your child form all such diseases it’s very necessary for you to teach him how to do braces cleaning.
If you go to any orthodontist and ask him about normal dental care then it would be very simple. Just brush three times in a day and that’s it. But with braces things are not that simple. Your child needs to have a special braces cleaning brush with him all the time so that whenever he eats something he can easily do the braces cleaning.
How to do Braces Cleaning?
There are many points related to braces cleaning but few of the important one are discussed below. First of all your child needs to learn how to hold the brush. Tell him to hold it an angle of 45 degrees. Then tell him to brush in between the gums and wires of the braces so that anything that is trapped there can be taken off. In the start outer portion of the teeth should be cleaned. To make things easier and simpler for your child ask him to only do this process to 3 teeth at a time, otherwise it gets difficult to handle. These 3 teeth should be cleaned by the brush 10 times in a circular motion and then repeat this process for all teeth one by one. After your child is done with the outer parts now tell him to clean the inner portions. After this process has been done the brush and the mouth should be rinsed enough so that they are completely clean. Also use mouthwash and floss between the brackets and wires while using a mirror to make sure the braces cleaning process is effectively done. Although braces cleaning is not a difficult job once your child gets used to it but initially you need to give lots of motivation to him so that he is encouraged enough to do it.
