Teeth Braces

Differences In Braces

Braces are put on the teeth by the orthodontist to help fix certain things that are wrong with where the teeth are in the mouth. Many dentists will help you fix these problems called malocclusion. The orthodontist is specially trained to know what to do for you.

This problem can be very difficult to fix and more than just braces may be needed to get it right. You may also need to have surgery on your mouth. This is not the usual case and braces are only what are needed.

A retainer may also be used by the dentist to fix the problems you have. You may need to wear a retainer to fix some of the little issues you have. A retainer acts just like a set of braces in keeping the teeth where they were supposed to be.

Retainers can be more versatile in what they help to fix while braces are made for certain things in mind. The main ideas behind braces are to move them in places and to keep them that way.

Retainers are just simply there to keep the teeth in the position they should be in. after you have your braces removed; you may need to wear a retainer. Your dentist will let you know.

The Different Categories Of Braces

What kinds of braces are there?

As it was said before, there are three types of braces. Your orthodontist will tell you about them all. They are different like your problems are different and can not be used for everything. Each category resolves a specific problem. The general categories of braces are listed below.

1. Brackets – these appear to be the favorite type of braces. They have very thin wires that are attached to the teeth on the top and the bottom sets and are connected together by a tiny bracket. The brackets are stuck on the teeth by rubber bands. These brackets can be made from ceramic, plastic, or metal. The ceramic and the plastic ones are more invisible that the metal ones are but, they have a likelihood that they will stain easily.

2. Lingual Braces- the only noticeable difference between these and the brackets is the lingual braces are stuck to the teeth that are in the back instead of the ones in the front. They are not able to be seen by anyone.

3. Traditional Bands – The name speaks for itself. These braces are definitely old school. These give the mouth a full amount of metal because the metal brackets are melted to the bands and are wrapped around each and every tooth in the mouth.

Since everyone is worried about the braces being seen, the new technology for braces is the Invisalign braces. These work just as well as any of the other types of braces except they can not be seen at all. The equipment that is used for them is invisible and transparent. This is an exciting development in the world of braces.
